5 Questions to ask yourself to help you find your DREAM!

“The only thing that stands between you and your dream is the will to try, and the belief that it is actually possible.”

– Joel Brown

What is your WHAT?

What do you want to CHANGE? What do you want to FIND? What do you want your DAY to look like? What crazy, out of the box, THING do you WISH you had or could do?

We will answer your question and it will take some doing on your part. The most valuable tip I can give you here is to find a quiet spot where you can sit, breathe, and be able to listen to your little voice while you read through this blog. Your little voice is going to be very important here because that is where your answers truly lie.

These are just the first steps – first you need to know what your true desires and dreams ARE before you can turn them into reality.

Hi there, I’m Sandra and if you are here for the first time, I am a fashion designer and recently started my own company (Curvy Girl Knits) for which I design clothing for the plus size woman, sizes 18 and up.

SO, if you found me through my fashion website, CurvyGirlKnits.com – welcome to my blog! If you found me through a search engine you may find times when you are first directed to my fashion website. Just scroll to the bottom of the site and you can click on the link of my latest blog.

OKAY let’s jump, head first, into making your dream(s) a reality.

Let’s start with ..writing down some of your answers (Check out my blog on Journaling here)

STOP! Get out that journal!

First – whether you have a dream in mind or not, please answer these questions. There are no wrong answers!

1. What do you want a typical day to look like for you?

2. Forget what is “realistic” – (I talk about this in my blog The Power of Positivity) –

What do you need to…

a. … Let go of in order to have your day look like this?

b. … Learn or achieve to have your day look like this?

This is where baby steps come in again. Taking one small step can mean a class, doing some internet research like watching YouTube videos. Why not? Presumably, you are going to enjoy this because you are loving what you want to do. Have you already been doing these things? Then what is the big step you have been avoiding? Take some baby steps towards that.

I tried in the past but failed! I tried in the past but couldn’t finish!

I don’t believe in dwelling on or in the past. Now, that said, it doesn’t mean I don’t find myself doing this sometimes! I do believe we need to come to terms with and accept our pasts Our pasts shape who we are and who we can become. We can always learn and better ourselves. The past is something you can reflect on but don’t dwell upon.

And, we are old enough to know that we cannot blame it, others, or ourselves for our past. At some point you accept responsibility, learn from it, and move on. That is the wisdom we find as we grow older!

What have you got to lose if you try again? Maybe ask for different help, approach it from a different perspective. MAYBE, the process has improved and/or changed since you last attempted to do what you need to do.

NEXT QUESTION

3. Who in your life, past or present, do you want what they have? It can be lifestyle, job, family, relationships, inner peace…. anything. Someone you truly admire. And why?

Do you have someone in your life yet who is a mentor, a master teacher? I talked about this in one of my earlier blogs. If you haven’t read it when you have here is a link (coming soon) so you can read it when you have a chance.

If the person you have always thought of as a mentor no longer looks or feels right to you then it’s time to move on. At least for now, use someone you may not know personally but admire. And please don’t pick a famous actor. You don’t know what kind of person they are only the ones they play and promote on the outside.

One of my favorite people that I continuously admire is Eleanor Roosevelt. And the more I learn about her the more I see how strong she was and incredibly wise.

I have quoted her before, and I need to again. Here are three that I love, and think are pertinent in this order.

Each day you must do one thing that scares you!

The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams!

Do what you feel in your heart to be right – for you will be criticized anyway!

– Eleanor Roosevelt

It’s all so true. And once you start doing the baby steps you have laid out for yourself you will soon find that you can indeed do what it is that scares you and what you thought you could not do. I promise!

NEXT QUESTION

4. What would you do (or want to do) on your day off, by yourself, to inspire you or makes you feel happy?

This is a dream andt the sky’s the limit! The world is your oyster! It doesn’t matter what you want to do, just write down what it is. Even if it scares you or you believe it’s impossible. We are just dreaming outside of our box.

If it weren’t for people who have dreams where would all our brilliant inventions have come from? Electricity, the airplane, computers, safety pins, band-aids and frisbees. The world needs dreamers who do.

The world needss dreamers and the world needs doers

but above all

The world needs dreamers who do!

– Sarah Ban Breathnach

NEXT QUESTION

5. Now listen for that little voice on this one! If you didn’t need money, what would you love to do everyday and not get paid?

This question is key! It will hold real answers for you. And, it’s important that if something else entered your mind but you ignored it…then that might be your real answer. Take a moment to think about this. Write down your true answer. No one is going to see this but you!

Does this answer make your heart flutter? Does it make you laugh and scare you because you feel it’s ridiculous? No matter. Just keep it in the back of your mind but let it come out sometimes as we move forward.

This is a lot to take in today! In my next blog we will talk about what keeps you stuck. For now keep dreaming.

Take some time to go back through what you have written down today. Add to it as ideas and thoughts come up. Dream bigger and bigger! Just fill the pages with thoughts of fantasy and later we will work on making your dreams into goals and then into reality!
